Yutaka I - by Gownsmith

Rare Earth, 100% Khangai yak, 350gsm midweight hopsack fabric.
Regenerated Bemberg Cupro piping.

Hand-tailored by Gownsmith’s team of Savile Row-trained makers, the Yukata employs techniques that have defined bespoke tailoring for generations. Beautifully soft and immeasurably wearable, it’s steeped in gown sensibilities – ensuring the comfort and feeling of home wherever you wear it.

More than five years in the making, the Yukata series combines rarity, craftsmanship, heritage and versatile functionality.

In our quest for the ultimate multifunctional unisex jacket, we took inspiration from the versatility of house robes from a range of Asian influences. The Japanese Haori coat provided strong design cues: its representation of inclusivity, equality and diversity are embodied in the Yukata.

The Yukata I is made from a one-off batch of the first combing of Khangai yak fibres sent to us by indigenous herders – exquisitely soft fibres featuring earthy browns and the rarest silver.

The rarity of this cloth, only a few metres of which are available globally, means that the Yukata I is being handmade in a limited edition.
